THE RAINFOREST
The Yuwan rainforest above Uken Village, is truly unique and earned World Natural Heritage status in 2021. Mt. Yuwan within it, at 694 meters, stands as the Amami Archipelago's peak. Uninhabited by humans and rich in biodiversity, it hosts numerous endemic species unrelated to any other species worldwide, like the Amami Rabbit.
